Art Talk With Painter Stefanie Bales

This week, I’m chatting with painter Stefanie Bales.  She lives and creates right here in San Diego, California, and I’ve loved getting to know her in person at our local Rising Tide meetups. Stefanie paints in several different mediums, but in this conversation we talk in detail about her gorgeous ink transfer paintings.  These pieces are SO unique and we dig into all the details of her creative process!  Part painting and part collage, Stefanie’s paintings draw you in with their soft rainbow of colors, life-like details and dreamy landscapes.  Be sure to pull up Stefanie’s work while you’re listening - you can find her on Instagram @stefaniebalesfineart.

In this episode, Stefanie shares all about her work, inspiration, process, favorite art materials and more!

I’m painting this afternoon during the girl’s nap time, listening to the rain outside, sipping coffee and diving into @emily_jeffords new podcast, Do It For The Process. This lady has such lovely words of wisdom and encouragement for fellow artists, and I can’t wait to hear more! What do you listen to while you create? Music? Podcasts? Silence?
A new Make Share Grow podcast interview is LIVE! 🙌🏼 In this episode, I’m chatting with painter @stefaniebalesfineart all about her fascinating ink transfer painting process. Guys, her landscape paintings are so gorgeous and dreamy!! (swipe to see one) Since our chat, she’s also opened her own studio and gallery space here in San Diego - every artist’s dream! 🌿 Listen to our full conversation via my bio link, and go give Stefanie’s art some love! #makesharegrowpodcast

Do you buy your own Valentine’s gift, or leave it to your significant other to surprise you? I have to admit, I just bought my own gift this year 😊 (see my stories!) 🌿 I still have a handful of mini landscapes in my shop, the perfect size to gift! What’s more romantic than a windswept cloudscape? ✨⠀
“Quiet Waters No. 2” 6x6, from the Wide & Free landscape collection, available in my shop (link in profile)
Two months! This little girl is such a joy. She’s started to smile and coo, and is sleeping for longer stretches at night. She’s such a relaxed, contented baby and is letting mama paint again! I’m off dairy, milk, eggs, soy and coffee 😭 to figure out a bit of tummy trouble for her. Any recommendations for non-caffeinated coffee substitutes? Tea just isn’t doing it for me. I have Dandy Blend coming in the mail, which I’m super interested to try!
Finished! 🙌🏼 “Dreaming In Color” is my first painting of the year, and I’m loving exploring my florals with new textures, drips and splatters (swipe to see close-up goodness). I’m calling this my Secret Garden series, celebrating the joy and wonder of nature through colorful gardens and creatures. 🌿 Available in my shop!
